I have been making xylophones since 1996. From day one I have
been concerned with how a student evolves and how to promote this evolution along faster. Research for my book (Manual for
Percussive Hands) brought me to better understand the physiology of the body and the cause for common actions on the part
of students and professional players, both construcive and destructive actions. The question of why did so many students gravitate
to the same problems brought about many new insights to teaching and the instruments needed.
I have been trying to find a economical way to bring a "Marimba" to the average income family. I started with a poor
attempt at a Xylophone with Marimba style bar widths. Over the years I have finally come to a design that covers the developmental
and basic solo material for 2 and 4 mallet skills. Too often compromises have been made by past efforts that were the "wrong"
ones. To save a little money a narrower width bar has been used which compromised learning skills. Or inferior materials were
used as is the case of the "Bell Kit". These only develop bad performance habits and worse yet, turn the student off from
playing.
Mission Statement
Very simple.
Bring the joy of music to the masses. Manufacture
student percussion instruments that meet professional needs.
In
other words, something I could and would use.
